The area

Dunoon and the Firth of ClydeDunoon lies just over the water (the Firth of Clyde) from Glasgow, on the Cowal Peninsula, an area of unspoiled mountains, lochs, forests and beaches. There’s so much to see and do that you’ll be spoilt for choice if you only have a week or two to explore.

Hunter’s Quay lies just outside Dunoon and is only a few minutes’ drive, or bus ride, to the town centre where you’ll find a great range of shops, restaurants, pubs, supermarkets, leisure centre, museum and cinema. Both Calmac and Western Ferries provide regular crossings from Gourock to Dunoon.

The surrounding countryside boasts a host of lovely villages to explore, such as Kilmun, Tighnabruaich, Kilfinan, Colintraive and Strachur. And if you prefer the great outdoors then there is an abundance of mountains for hill-walking, lochs for sailing or fishing, and paths for horse-riding or cycling.
